Set up a Philips signage panel

This puts the Adzup player onto a new Philips/PPDS panel using a USB stick. You need a computer, an empty USB stick, and physical access to the panel. The panel does not need to be online yet.

1. Format the USB stick as FAT32

   The panel cannot read exFAT or NTFS. Any size from 1 GB up works.

2. Extract the download to the top level of the stick

   Extract, do not copy the zip itself. You should end up with exactly this:

   On macOS, delete any ._ files the Finder adds, or the panel may reject the folder. Extracting with the built-in Archive Utility is fine.

3. Plug the stick into the panel and power it on

   Use a USB port on the panel itself, not on a connected media player.

4. Open the service menu

   On the remote press Home then 1 8 8 8. The admin password is 1234 unless it has been changed.

5. Import the settings

   Go to Signage Display → System tools → Import/Export → Import Signage Display Settings, pick the file from the stick, and confirm.

   The import takes several minutes and the screen may look idle. Do not unplug the stick or cut power until the panel restarts on its own.

6. Connect the panel to the network and pair it

   After the restart the panel boots straight into Adzup and shows a QR code with a short pairing code. Open the Adzup app, scan it, and the screen appears in your account. Everything after this is managed from the CMS.
